David Feng, Ph.D.

David Feng leads a team that builds data and analysis products for the Allen Institute for Brain Science. His responsibilities include engineering data analysis pipelines to support high-throughput data collection platforms, open source software development, and community engagement via workshops and training sessions. Prior to joining the Institute, David completed a Ph.D. at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he studied data visualization techniques in supporting the diagnosis of brain tumors using MR spectroscopy. David received a B.S. and M.S. in computer science with a specialization in computer graphics from Northwestern University. 

Research

Research Interests

I specialize in making scientific data and software accessible throughout the product development lifecycle. I enjoy building visualization tools and analysis modules to help ensure data integrity, highlight salient features of a data set, and support ongoing research in neuroscience. Once data is ready, my primary aim is to open the data, results and software to as wide an audience as possible through workshops, presentations and hackathons.
