Maja Chaffe joined the Allen Institute in June 2007 with broad legal experience across several industries. She is responsible for the Institute's legal affairs. Most recently, Chaffe worked as a consulting attorney providing outside general counsel assistance and prior to that, she was vice president and associate general counsel at Expedia, Inc. Chaffe has also worked as an associate at Preston Gates & Ellis (now K&L Gates) in the corporate and securities practice group and in the legal department at Todd Shipyards Corporation. An active community volunteer, Chaffe has been involved with numerous local area non-profit organizations such as PEPS and EarthCorps in various capacities including board member, volunteer, group leader and pro-bono attorney. She holds a J.D. from Seattle University School of Law and a B.A. in sociology from the University of Washington. She is a member of the Washington state bar.
