
Kelly Overly, Ph.D., Research Alliance Manager

Kelly Overly joined the Allen Institute in July 2006 to manage research collaborations and other external relations activities. Overly earned her undergraduate degree in biology and Ph.D. in neuroscience from Harvard University, where she used quantitative fluorescence microscopy to examine cellular metabolism and organelle trafficking in neuronal cells. Prior to her graduate studies, she researched the molecular pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease at Athena Neurosciences, Inc. Upon completion of her Ph.D., Overly worked as a strategy consultant at Feinstein Kean Partners/Kendall Strategies, where she directed the firm’s west coast office and managed a wide range of business strategy and communications projects for industrial clients ranging from start-up biotechnology companies to multinational pharmaceutical companies. Overly is also an experienced educator and served as Lecturer at the University of California, Irvine, where she developed and directed an undergraduate neuroscience research program, helped oversee the curriculum of a state high school summer science and mathematics program, and taught a variety of courses on the brain.
