Elizabeth Birlet joined the Allen Institute in October 2006 to lead the investor philanthropy division and oversee the Institute’s goal of becoming a self-sustaining non-profit organization.  Birlet has created and managed a succession of philanthropic programs.  In addition to serving an array of nonprofits as a consultant, she has held numerous posts at several academic medical centers.  She has a master’s degree in journalism with an emphasis on science from the University of Illinois and an undergraduate degree from Roosevelt University in Illinois.
