Kelly Overly, Ph.D.

Research Alliance Manager

Kelly Overly joined the Allen Institute in 2006 to manage interdisciplinary projects across departments and organizations. In addition to overseeing collaborations, she also has responsibilities in product management, education and user outreach. Overly has a diverse background that spans neuroscience research, science education, business strategy and communications. Prior to joining the Allen Institute, Overly served as lecturer at the University of California, Irvine, where she developed and directed an undergraduate neuroscience research program, guided the curriculum of a large high school summer science program, and taught a variety of courses. Previously, she was a strategy and communications consultant to life sciences companies, serving as Director at Feinstein Kean Partners/Kendall Strategies where she established and led the U.S. firm’s west coast office. Overly also conducted research at Harvard University and Athena Neurosciences Inc. She has studied and published on the regulation of nerve cell metabolism, the molecular pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease, and the intersection of genomics and neuroscience. Overly earned her A.B .in biology and Ph.D. in neuroscience from Harvard University.
