John Hohmann, Ph.D.
Director, Data Analysis and Annotation
John Hohmann joined the Allen Institute in 2006 to lead the data analysis team and manage projects related to the Allen Mouse Brain Atlas. Before joining the Institute, Hohmann led the Physiology Department at Nura, Inc., and prior to that he led the Neuroanatomy Department at Primal, Inc. At Primal, Hohmann characterized the brain expression of the G-protein coupled receptor superfamily and was involved in the identification of therapeutic small molecules that interact with these receptors. Hohmann's research interests include using comparative neuroanatomy to define new structure-function paradigms in the brain, and using gene expression to elucidate neuroendocrine circuits in the hypothalamus. Hohmann has a Ph.D. in neurobiology and behavior from the University of Washington, where he is an Affiliate Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine.
